Dr Martin Campbell was born in Greenock, Scotland. 

In the past he worked as an ambulance driver, window cleaner, teacher, care manager and psychologist.

His professional background for the past 30 years has been in clinical psychology practice and university teaching, working in the US, Ireland, England and Scotland.  He has published extensively in academic and research journals. 

He has a strong belief in the power of storytelling.

Martin is the author of four novels.  Bad Beat Hotel was published in 2016, Sailor’s Heart in 2022, Adrift in the Cemetery in 2024 and his latest book, The Insanity Inspectors in 2025. 

His experience in psychology practice has given him a platform to construct realistic characters and entertaining plots.  All his books share a dark narrative, but not without humour.

When he is not writing, he enjoys sea fishing and playing poker, neither with much success.
